In X-Men Blue: Origins, everything you thought you knew about Nightcrawler and Mystique was wrong. Many mutant secrets have been revealed as the Marvel event Fall of X is in full swing. One such mystery is why Mystique abandoned her infant son. Si Spurrier, a writer, took her original reasons and completely changed them in a heartbreaking way. Furthermore, everything we thought we knew about Mystique and her shapeshifting abilities has been altered.
The beginnings of Nightcrawler
Nightcrawler’s origins were unknown prior to the changes introduced in X-Men Blue: Origins. According to popular belief, Mystique lived as the wife of Baron Christian Wagner. Her fiery-haired mutant, on the other hand, got away with it in order to have an affair with the mutant immortal Azazel. Nightcrawler was created by a secret union, which Mystique abandoned. This story is lacking in detail, but it makes sense given Azazel’s teleportation abilities.
X-Men Blue: Origins, however, revealed that this was all a ruse. Destiny, Mystique’s lover and wife, was kept as close to her as a servant to the House of Wagner. They conceived Nightcrawler together and kept the pregnancy from Wagner, eventually killing him. Azazel, on the other hand, eventually organized a mob that stormed the Wagner estate, and Mystique fled with the newborn Nightcrawler. She hid her baby in the woods to find her wife, but they both died that night.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine
After rejecting Charles Xavier’s mental influence, Mystique made this shocking revelation. This removes the mental impediment Destiny imposed on Mystique when Charles was unable to cope with the loss of his son. As a result, Mystique began to believe Azazel was her father and that the original story was true.

Furthermore, the contents are revealed in the notes. #1 X-Men Blue: Origins Mystique does not have the ability to change shape. She is known as a “gene shaper” because she can rewrite her own cells and genetic structures. This is how she became pregnant with Nightcrawler’s wife. This is a bizarre revelation made possible by the Fall of X event. It will be interesting to see how this affects the mother-son relationship in the future.
